The third quarter of 2021 saw interesting trends in the performance of the top 5 medical apps in the United Kingdom on a unified platform, according to data from Sensor Tower. Here’s a closer look at the weekly downloads, active users, and revenue metrics for these apps.

NHS App from NHS Digital maintained robust download numbers throughout the quarter, peaking at approximately 472K downloads in mid-July. Weekly downloads showed a slight decline towards the end of September, ending the quarter at around 331K. Active users for the app saw a significant rise in July, reaching over 2.6M, but gradually decreased to about 2.4M by the end of September.

NHS COVID-19 experienced a notable drop in downloads as the quarter progressed. The app started with 247K downloads in late June, falling to 67K by the end of September. A similar trend was observed in active users, starting at over 3.1M in late June and decreasing to approximately 765K by the end of the quarter.

NHS COVID Pass Verifier saw a steady increase in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads peaked at 42K in early September, while active users grew consistently, reaching over 101K by the end of September.

COVIDCert NI had a fluctuating download rate, starting at 12.5K in mid-July and ending with approximately 9.7K downloads by the end of September. Despite the variations, the app maintained a relatively stable performance throughout the quarter.

Patient Access from Patient.co.uk showed consistent performance in weekly downloads, averaging around 15K towards the end of the quarter. Active users for the app remained stable, with a slight increase from approximately 80K in late June to about 88K in mid-September.
